Partner: PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk
Industry: Natural Gas Energy
Objective: The CAKRA (Community Health Check) Program aims to improve community health by providing free medical check-ups, early disease detection, metabolic health screening, eye examinations, and health education. The program is expected to increase public awareness of the importance of maintaining good health and encourage the adoption of sustainable healthy lifestyles, particularly among communities in the SOR I Langsa area.
Challenges: Based on the program implementation, several key public health challenges were identified:
- Limited public awareness of the importance of routine health check-ups, resulting in many diseases remaining undetected until they reach more advanced stages.
- A high prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including hypertension, hyperuricemia, and diabetes, largely associated with unhealthy lifestyle habits.
- An increase in infectious diseases such as cough, acute respiratory infections (ARI), the common cold, and fever due to post-disaster environmental conditions.
- Health risks associated with inadequate access to clean water and proper sanitation, contributing to cases of acute gastroenteritis (AGE).
- Increased physical activity during post-disaster recovery efforts, leading to complaints of myalgia, fatigue, and weakened immunity.
- Limited access to preventive healthcare services and early disease detection within the community.
- Low public awareness of the importance of early eye examinations, causing many vision impairments to be identified only after they begin to affect learning, work productivity, and daily activities.
Solution:
To address these challenges, the CAKRA (Community Health Check) Program delivers integrated healthcare services through the following initiatives:
- Provision of curative healthcare services by qualified medical professionals for community members.
- Metabolic health screening, including blood glucose, uric acid, and cholesterol tests, to support the early detection of non-communicable diseases.
- Health education and awareness sessions on diabetes prevention, disease management, and the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle practices.
- Community outreach and education on the use of the Household Gas Network (JARGAS) to increase public understanding of its benefits and safe utilization.
- Comprehensive eye examinations conducted by ophthalmologists, accompanied by recommendations for prescription eyeglasses for participants requiring vision correction.
- Collaboration among healthcare professionals, local government authorities, and PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk to ensure accessible, comprehensive, and community-centered healthcare services.
