Objective
The Earthquake Disaster Relief Program in East Nusa Tenggara aims to help meet the basic needs of communities affected by the earthquake during the emergency response and early recovery phases. This program is implemented through the distribution of basic food supplies and evacuation logistics, ranging from food, drinking water, and baby supplies to emergency shelter equipment.
Challenges
- An earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale struck East Nusa Tenggara on August 15, 2026, at 4:58 a.m. WIB. The epicenter was located in the sea, approximately 38 km northeast of Mbay, Nagekeo Regency, at a depth of 15 km. The earthquake was strongly felt in several areas of East Nusa Tenggara and affected several regencies on the island of Flores, including Manggarai Regency. The main challenges addressed through this program:
- According to data from the Manggarai Regency Government as of August 26, 2026, 45 people died in Manggarai Regency, 24 of them in Reok District. A total of 59 victims were still receiving medical treatment.
- There is a large number of displaced people. As of August 24, 2026, there were 185 evacuation centers housing 50,099 displaced people across 11 subdistricts, including Reok Subdistrict.
- There was widespread damage to facilities. A total of 7,132 facilities were affected (source: BNPB, Situation Report, August 26, 2026).
- There is an urgent need for food, drinking water, supplies for infants and children, shelter supplies, and health services.
Solution
- PT Pertamina New & Renewable Energy, in collaboration with Filantra, distributed humanitarian aid at the Watu Baur Village Office, Reok Subdistrict, Manggarai Regency, on August 23, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. WITA. The aid was then distributed to affected residents at the evacuation sites.

SDG Relevance
SDG 2: Zero Hunger
In emergency situations, limited access to food increases community vulnerability, particularly among infants and children. Through rice, instant noodles, eggs, sugar, salt, cooking oil, as well as baby biscuits and formula, this program supports food availability and meets the nutritional needs of affected communities.
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being
Through the provision of drinking water, baby supplies, blankets, tarps, generators, and gas stoves, this program helps communities maintain their health, hygiene, and comfort during emergencies and displacement.
When an earthquake strikes, meeting people’s daily needs becomes a challenge, especially for affected families with limited access to food and basic necessities. Through this program, PT Pertamina New & Renewable Energy, in partnership with Filantra, is providing support to earthquake-affected communities in Manggarai Regency as part of efforts to strengthen disaster response and support the post-disaster recovery process.
