Objective

The Pertamina Berkah Program, Interfaith Assistance for Orphans and the Underprivileged by the Downstream Subholding, aims to support the operational sustainability of foundations and social welfare centers that care for and assist vulnerable communities. This program is implemented through the provision of cash operational assistance to ensure that services, guidance, and support for orphans, people with disabilities, people with mental health conditions (ODGJ), the underprivileged, and the elderly can continue to run optimally.

Challenges

Foundations and social welfare centers are on the front lines in meeting basic needs, providing care, and creating a safe environment for vulnerable groups. However, many of them still face challenges in meeting their daily operational needs. The main challenges addressed by this program are:

  • Limited resources and funding to meet residents’ daily needs, maintain facilities and infrastructure, and organize developmental activities.
  • A diverse group of beneficiaries, ranging from orphans, people with disabilities, people with mental health conditions, the underprivileged, to the elderly each with different service needs.
  • The institutions are spread across a vast area, from Aceh to Papua, so aid distribution must reach many regions simultaneously and accurately target the intended recipients.
  • The need for collaboration between the government, the business sector, and social organizations to strengthen the capacity of foundations and shelters so they can continue to fulfill their roles sustainably.

Solution

PT Pertamina (Persero), in collaboration with Filantra, distributed cash operational assistance to social foundations and shelters through a Joint Prayer and Aid Distribution event held June 19–27, 2026, with a total aid fund of Rp1 billion. The distribution was carried out in stages through Pertamina’s regional offices:

  • Recipient coverage: 108 foundations and social welfare homes in 54 locations across 15 operational areas, including the Jatimbinus, Maluku Papua, Sumbagsel, Sumbagut, JBT, JBB, Sulawesi, and Kalimantan regions, as well as RU II Dumai, RU III Plaju, RU IV Cilacap, RU V Balikpapan, RU VI Balongan, and RU VII Kasim.

Relevance to the SDGs

SDG 1: No Poverty (No Poverty)

Operational assistance to foundations and social welfare centers supports the social protection system for vulnerable groups. This support helps ensure the continuity of services for orphans, people with disabilities, people with mental health conditions, the underprivileged, and the elderly, so that their basic needs and social services can continue to be met.

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities (Reduced Inequalities)

The program strengthens the capacity of foundations and social welfare homes to provide services without discrimination to communities in need. In this way, the program contributes to reducing social inequality and promoting equal opportunities.

Through this program, PT Pertamina (Persero), in partnership with Filantra, provides tangible support to social institutions throughout Indonesia as part of its commitment to inclusive development and sustainable social welfare.
