Objective :
The School Library Revitalization Program aims to improve the quality of education by providing better, child-friendly, and functional library facilities and infrastructure. The program is expected to create a more comfortable and inspiring learning environment, support the learning process, and encourage the development of a reading culture among students at SDN Karet Tengsin 21 Pagi, Central Jakarta.
Challenges :
Improving literacy and learning quality at the elementary school level continues to face challenges, particularly in terms of the availability of adequate educational facilities. Some of the key challenges addressed through this program include:
- The condition of the school library was not yet optimal as a learning and literacy space.
- Limited library facilities to support students’ reading and learning activities.
- The availability of reading materials needed to be strengthened to support a stronger reading culture.
- The need to create a more comfortable, safe, child-friendly, and attractive library environment for students.
- Limited facilities could potentially hinder the learning process and continuity of students’ education.
Solution :
As part of its commitment to supporting the improvement of education quality, PT Hitachi Channel Solutions Indonesia collaborated with Filantra through the School Library Revitalization Program by providing various forms of support, including:
- Renovating the school library to create a more appropriate and functional learning space.
- Providing reading books to support students’ literacy activities.
- Providing two packages of bookshelves and one package of book cabinets to support the organization of the library collection.
- Providing 30 reading tables to support students’ reading and learning activities.
- Providing three 2 x 8-meter carpet rolls to enhance the comfort of the reading area.
- Providing cleaning tools to maintain the cleanliness and comfort of the library.
- Providing one dispenser and three refillable water gallons as supporting facilities for the school community.
- Organizing supporting activities, including children’s storytelling, a library visit, and a symbolic handover of the assistance.
Impact :
The implementation of the School Library Revitalization Program has contributed to improving the learning environment and literacy facilities at SDN Karet Tengsin 21 Pagi, Central Jakarta, including: - A more appropriate, child-friendly, and functional library is now available as a space to support learning activities.
- Improved literacy facilities through the provision of reading books, bookshelves, book cabinets, and reading tables.
- Greater comfort in the library through the provision of carpets and other supporting facilities.
- Availability of cleaning equipment and supporting facilities to help maintain a comfortable library environment.
- The program is expected to improve the comfort, safety, and effectiveness of literacy learning activities at the school.
- Improved facilities help ensure that limited resources do not become a barrier to the continuity of students’ education.
