Objective :
The Plastic Waste Management Support Program aims to strengthen community-based waste management by providing operational facilities that support waste segregation and collection. Through this initiative, the program seeks to encourage responsible plastic waste management practices, increase community participation in recycling efforts, and foster a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment within the company’s operational areas.
Challenges :
Prior to the implementation of the program, several challenges in plastic waste management were identified, including:
- The increasing volume of plastic waste that poses environmental and public health concerns.
- Limited availability of waste management facilities to support waste segregation and collection at the community level.
- Low public awareness and participation in sorting plastic waste from its source.
- Inadequate infrastructure to facilitate effective plastic waste management and recycling activities.
- The need for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to improve community-based waste management systems.
- The importance of cultivating long-term environmental awareness and responsible waste disposal behavior.
Solution :
To address these challenges, the Plastic Waste Management Support Program implemented several initiatives, including:
- Providing waste management equipment to strengthen community waste management capacity.
- Distributing three units of 1,100-liter Dust Bin Sulo containers to support waste collection activities.
- Supplying yellow and green trash bags to facilitate waste segregation according to waste categories.
- Providing 16 recycling-labeled waste bins to encourage proper waste disposal and sorting practices.
- Supporting operational activities required for program implementation and community participation.
- Promoting collaboration between PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk, Filantra, and community stakeholders to improve sustainable waste management practices.
Impact:
The implementation of the program contributed to improving waste management capacity and strengthening environmental awareness through the following outcomes:
- Community waste management facilities were enhanced through the provision of operational waste management equipment.
- Three units of 1,100-liter Dust Bin Sulo containers were distributed to support community waste collection.
- Forty packs of waste bags, consisting of yellow and green trash bags, were provided to facilitate waste segregation.
- Sixteen recycling-labeled waste bins were distributed to encourage responsible waste disposal practices.
- Community members gained greater opportunities to implement waste segregation and environmentally responsible waste management.
- The collaboration between PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk and Filantra reinforced joint efforts to promote cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable communities.
