Objective : The objective of the School Library Revitalization Program at SDN Rambutan 03 Pagi is to support the realization of quality education through the provision of access to proper learning spaces, quality reading materials, and a conducive environment to foster students’ reading interest and literacy. This program also aims to strengthen the development of resilient and inclusive social infrastructure within the school environment, as part of the contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda. Furthermore, this activity serves as a form of corporate social responsibility implementation by PT Hitachi Asia Indonesia in collaboration with Filantra to provide a sustainable positive impact on the world of education.

Challenges :  The challenges faced during the School Library Revitalization (SDN Rambutan 03 Pagi) activities are as follows:

  • The low level of reading literacy among Indonesian students based on the 2022 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) survey results, which served as the primary background for the necessity of program intervention.
  • Inadequate library facilities, in terms of equipment completeness, reading room conditions, and overall comfort for students.
  • Book collections that are not yet fully relevant or attractive to the needs and reading interests of the students.
  • The challenge of creating a library space that is not only physically adequate but also capable of becoming an inspiring space that encourages a sustainable reading culture.

Solutions :  As a response to the need for improving the quality of literacy facilities in schools, the School Library Revitalization program (SDN Rambutan 03 Pagi) presents several concrete steps, including:

  • Renovation of the library room to create a more proper, comfortable, and representative reading space for students at SDN Rambutan 03 Pagi.
  • Addition of reading book collections to support knowledge development and increase students’ reading interest and motivation.
  • Implementation of storytelling activities as an interactive educational approach to foster interest in literacy.
  • Symbolic handover of assistance as a form of social commitment from PT Hitachi Asia Indonesia.
  • Collaboration with Filantra to ensure the program implementation is structured and well-targeted.

Program Impact :  The implementation of this program provides a number of positive impacts for the school environment, including:

  • The creation of a library space that is more proper and supports the learning process.
  • Increased student access to reading materials that support literacy strengthening.
  • Increased student enthusiasm in reading activities, as seen from active participation in storytelling sessions.
  • The establishment of a more conducive and inspiring learning atmosphere in the school environment.
  • The realization of a tangible contribution from the business world in supporting the sustainable improvement of educational quality.

Strengthening Literacy, Building Spaces for Generational Growth

In the midst of challenges such as low literacy levels and limited school library facilities, the revitalization of reading spaces is not merely a physical update, but a long-term investment for the future of education. Through the School Library Revitalization Program at SDN Rambutan 03 Pagi, the library space has been updated to be more proper, comfortable, and representative, accompanied by the addition of relevant reading book collections to enrich students’ insights. The previously limited space has now been transformed into a more vibrant and inspiring learning center.

The collaboration between PT Hitachi Asia Indonesia and Filantra brings more than just facility assistance; it establishes a literacy ecosystem. Through library renovation, the provision of books, and interactive storytelling activities, this program fosters a pleasant and meaningful learning experience. Every step presented is part of a collective effort to strengthen the reading culture, build student confidence, and prepare a more resilient generation to face the future.
