Distribution of Basic Food Packages for Online Motorcycle Drivers in Bekasi
Partner: PT PGAS Solution
Industry: Oil & Gas
Objective: The Basic Food Assistance Program for online motorcycle drivers in Bekasi City aims to improve the welfare and purchasing power of the drivers who are the backbone of the community’s daily transportation. Through this assistance, their daily financial burden can be reduced, allowing the income they earn to be allocated to other equally important needs, such as children’s education, healthcare, or vehicle maintenance.
Challenges:
- The prices of basic necessities such as rice, cooking oil, and sugar tend to increase and experience significant fluctuations (according to BPS, 2024).
- There is inequality in socio-economic conditions within society.
- The challenges of rising prices and economic inequality heavily burden underprivileged groups and informal sector workers, such as online motorcycle taxi drivers.
Solution:
- In response to these challenges, PT PGAS Solution collaborates with Filantra to distribute 250 basic food packages containing rice, sugar, cooking oil, sardines, and instant noodles to online motorcycle taxi drivers in Bekasi City as a form of care for frontline workers.
Impact:
- Direct Aid: Drivers receive basic food packages that can ease their daily living costs and help fulfill their and their families’ basic needs.
- Reduced Financial Burden: By receiving food assistance, the income usually allocated for purchasing basic necessities can be redirected to other purposes, such as vehicle operational costs, children’s education, or savings.
- Positive Psychological Impact: Receiving assistance during difficult times (such as a challenging economic situation) can reduce stress and provide a positive energy boost, making drivers feel more supported.
SDGs Relevance:
- SDG 2: Zero Hunger
- The direct provision of basic food packages ensures that the fundamental food needs of drivers and their families are met, especially in an uncertain economic situation.
