PARTNER: PT Smelting

INDUSTRY: Copper smelting and refining

OBJECTIVES:

1. To promote local economic empowerment through the development of tourism villages, handicrafts, culinary arts, and waste management.

2. To create an educational and ecological destination that is enjoyable and environmentally friendly.

CHALLENGES: The implementation of the Tourism Package Activities in the Balik ka Bumi Tourism Village is an experiment to prepare the Pokdarwis team for future developments, especially if there are tourists interested to make Balik ka Bumi Tourism Village a travel destination. Therefore, from yesterday’s activities, a supervisor from Cisande Tourism Village was also present to evaluate and provide feedback on the entire series of Tourism Package activities.

SOLUTION:

The Balik ka Bumi Tourism Village program demonstrates the successful implementation of community empowerment based on educational and sustainable tourism. Through a series of trainings, local product development, environmental management, and collaboration with stakeholders, this program has successfully enhanced the capacity of the Tourism Village Committee (Pokdarwis), created child-friendly craft innovations, established a productive waste management system, and introduced an educational tourism package integrated with nature conservation. In addition to increasing community income, this program has strengthened village institutions and made a tangible contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

IMPACT:

This program is relevant to several SDGs, including:

1. Relevance to SDG 1: No poverty worldwide through empowerment programs with sustainable economic impacts

2. Relevance to SDG 8: Promoting policies that support productive activities, decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation, and encouraging the formalization and growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.

3. Relevance to SDG 13: Taking urgent action to address climate change and its impacts. Initial actions include training to enhance awareness and concern for the environment.

4. Relevance to SDG 15: Take active steps to protect terrestrial ecosystems. This involves providing education and encouraging active participation from the community to protect conservation areas and their ecosystems.

5. Relevance to SDG 17: Strengthen implementation measures and revitalize global partnerships for sustainable development through collaboration with stakeholders in the implementation area.

Let’s work together to create an educational, environmentally friendly, and impactful tourist village for the community!
