PURPOSE:
broaden horizons and knowledge, hone the ability to capture and understand information and hone the ability to write and string words better.
CHALLENGE:
The results of the 2019 survey of Indonesian people’s interest in reading ranked 62nd out of 70 countries, or in the bottom 10 countries. “That is the result of the PISA survey released by the OECD, while UNESCO states that the reading interest of the people of Indonesia is only 0.001 percent. This means that out of 1,000 Indonesians only 1 person likes to read. The results of different research titled World’s Most Literate Nations Ranked conducted by Central Connecticut State University in March 2016, Indonesia was declared ranked 60th out of 61 countries regarding interest in reading,”
SOLUTION:
PLN UID West Java Literacy Village Program Year 2 activities that have been carried out since June 2023 until October 2023. There are 2 locations for project implementation activities, namely Dusun 1 Cipondok Village, Cibingbin District, Kuningan Regency, West Java for the Smart Ceria Reading House. The second location is at Jalan Kapten Ibrahim Blok Leuwigede Wetan RT 06 RW 03 No. 41 Leuwigede Village, Widasari District, Indramayu Regency, West Java for Perpusatakaan S16 activities.
IMPACT:
The Literacy Village Program of PT PLN (Persero) West Java Distribution Unit Year 2 is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially the 4th SDG goal of Quality Education.
All activities carried out are to support activities at Rumah Baca Cerdas Ceria and Library S16. These activities aim to foster a love for books and knowledge so that children will gain good knowledge for their future lives. Thus the Waupnor Children’s Literacy and Creation House Program is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially the 4th SDG goal of Quality Education.
