CHALLENGES:

Based on regulations in accordance with Law No. 40 of 2017 concerning Limited Liability Companies (PT) Article 74, Law No. 25 of 2007 concerning Investment Articles 15, 17, 34, and Government Regulation No. 47 of 2012 concerning the social and environmental responsibility of limited liability companies. Companies are required to implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to maintain a balance between the interests of the company, the surrounding environment, and the community within the company’s operational area to ensure the company’s sustainability and continued benefit to all stakeholders.

In line with its commitment to implementing CSR, PT. Smelting collaborates with Filantra to conduct a regional survey. Filantra is an institution that plans and implements CSR programs. Proper planning is essential to measure the compatibility between the solutions offered for the CSR recipient area and the needs and interests of the partners.

SOLUTION:

Social Mapping in Cikahuripan Village was conducted systematically using a qualitative and quantitative methodological approach, involving surveys, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and observations. The primary objective of this activity was to understand the social, economic, cultural, educational, and health conditions, as well as the potential and challenges faced by the community, as a foundation for planning sustainable CSR programs. The mapping results revealed that the majority of the community works as farmers and agricultural laborers, education levels remain low, and infrastructure and basic services such as clean water and healthcare are still limited. PT Smelting’s CSR programs have begun to be recognized by the community through initiatives like the Balik Ka Bumi Tourism Village, but there is still room for improvement in terms of sustainability and long-term impact. The priority issues identified include clean water crisis, waste management, and the practice of giving birth without medical assistance. This activity successfully mapped key actors, local potential, vulnerable groups, and formulated strategic recommendations for comprehensive community empowerment.

IMPACT:

The social mapping activity in Cikahuripan Village has had a significant multidimensional impact. From increasing understanding of community needs, strengthening local institutions, to developing more responsive CSR strategies, this activity has created a strong foundation for more targeted, participatory, and impactful social interventions and community empowerment.

With the results of this social mapping, Cikahuripan Village is not only comprehensively documented but also gains opportunities to move toward becoming a more empowered, healthy, and self-reliant village through collaboration between the community, government, and private sector.

Let’s actively participate in building the village through social mapping and targeted community empowerment programs.
