IHC’s Initiative to Enhance Environmental Awareness through Waste Management Training

PARTNER: PT Pertamina Bina Medika IHC
INDUSTRY: Healthcare

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE:
The Waste Sorting and Processing Training Program aims to raise community awareness and skills in environmentally friendly waste management. This initiative is part of the 2025 National Waste Awareness Day (HPSN) commemoration and supports the creation of a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment.

CHALLENGES FACED:
Lack of public awareness regarding the economic and environmental value of waste management, limited technical understanding of how to sort and process waste, insufficient practical tools, and the need to expand the program’s social impact to vulnerable groups such as orphans.

IMPLEMENTED SOLUTION:
A hands-on training session was held on February 26, 2025, on the 12th floor of Graha RSPP, guided by experienced trainers. The educational aspect was strengthened through the distribution of 50 jerry cans (10 liters) and 50 funnels (25 cm) as practical tools for waste sorting and processing. The program also included donations to 10 orphans on March 21, 2025, as a form of social care. National Waste Awareness Day served as a momentum to reinforce the message of collective change and boost community participation.

PROGRAM IMPACT:
The program enhanced community capacity in waste sorting and processing, encouraged environmental preservation by shifting the mindset from discarding to managing waste, reinforced the company’s social commitment, and positioned hospitals as environmental change agents, not merely healthcare providers.
