Objective : The Free Health Service Program in Pondok Kopi, East Jakarta, was organized to expand public access to basic healthcare services through health education, curative services, metabolic screenings, and the provision of Supplementary Feeding (PMT). This initiative aims to raise public awareness regarding the importance of a healthy lifestyle, support the prevention of non-communicable diseases, and help maintain and improve the community’s health status sustainably.

Challenges : The implementation of health service activities in the Jakarta area faces several challenges, particularly concerning the uneven access to healthcare for the community. The suboptimal rate of visits to health facilities, especially in densely populated and suburban areas, reflects barriers in utilizing available services. Economic constraints, low public awareness about the importance of routine health check-ups, and administrative obstacles in accessing medical services are the primary factors influencing this condition. These challenges have the potential to hinder early disease prevention efforts and impact long-term public health quality.

Solutions : To address the various health challenges faced by the people of Pondok Kopi, East Jakarta, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk and Filantra designed a series of integrated and targeted activities. This program was designed not only to provide direct health services but also to increase awareness, knowledge, and community participation in maintaining daily health. The concrete steps taken in this program are as follows:

  • Organizing a Free Health Service Program within the Pondok Kopi residential area to bring healthcare access closer to the community.
  • Providing health education to improve public understanding of the importance of maintaining health and performing routine health screenings.
  • Delivering curative health services, including general check-ups and blood pressure measurements for 196 residents.
  • Conducting metabolic screenings (random blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol) for 148 residents based on medical needs and doctor recommendations.
  • Distributing 100 Supplementary Feeding (PMT) packages to children and toddlers to support nutritional fulfillment.
  • Integrating health services with supporting activities such as group exercise (senam), children’s coloring competitions, and door prize distributions to increase community participation.
  • Conducting socialization for CMM/GasKita PGN to provide education on the safe and efficient use of natural gas for households.
  • Involving professional medical personnel (general practitioners, nurses, pharmacists) as well as registration officers and volunteers to ensure services are orderly, safe, and well-documented.

Program Impact :

  • 296 residents gained access to healthcare services through the Pondok Kopi Free Health Service Program.
  • 196 residents received direct curative health services.
  • 148 residents underwent metabolic screenings with a total of 444 examination services (random blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol).
  • Beneficiaries were dominated by the elderly group (>50 years old) totaling 88 people, followed by children and toddlers.
  • Children and toddlers received 100 PMT packages consisting of UHT milk, nutritious biscuits, and fruit.
  • The community gained an initial overview of their health status, particularly regarding metabolic and non-communicable diseases.
  • The activity increased awareness of healthy living, resident participation, and strengthened the relationship between PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk and the community in the Pondok Kopi area.
